Symposium Global Food Chains Beyond 2015 Fair Solutions to Unfair Trading Practices Wednesday, 14 October 2015

As part of its Global Food Week (12-16 October), Fairfood International would like to invite you to a multi-stakeholder discussion on tackling Unfair Trading Practices (UTPs) which impacts food producers in the Netherlands and the EU, as well as low and middle-income countries.

Early 2016, the European Commission will publish its evaluation of the Supply Chain Initiative. In addition, the Dutch pilot scheme Gedragscode Eerlijke Handelspraktijken (Fair Trade Practices Code of Conduct) is now being evaluated. Surprisingly, no complaints seem to have been filed under this pilot.

Fairfood believes this is a good moment to talk about the effectiveness of the industry's self-regulation approach. We will be looking at lessons learnt and, most importantly, discussing the steps needed to ensure fair solutions to UTPs.
